Lord Von Donner Und Doria, A.K.A. 'Lord Byron', came to us in the fall of 1999 from eastern Germany at 10 weeks of age. He came with undocked tail and uncropped ears, (per the new German law.) We have grown accustomed to the new look. The Donner Und Doria Kennel is a small but well-known kennel breeding police utilized working Giant Schnauzers, or Riesenschnauzers, as they are called there, owned by Mr. Uwe Staps. His kennel is registered with the Pinscher-Schnauzer Klub of Germany and his dogs are also Schutzhund titled. His foundation bitch, from the DDR, Farina Von Barba Nigra, SchH3, FH3, PSH3 & SG rated was, as her titles clearly indicate, a very strong and versatile bitch. (DDR = the old East Germany). (The PSH3 title, is the highest police title awarded.) (The FH3 title, is the highest tracking title awarded.) Farina is Byron's Grand Dam, and was bred to arguably one of the best sport dogs in history, Ali Von Hilbort, SchH3, IPO3, FH, BH, AD & V rated, to produce Byron's Dam, Hanka Von Donner Und Doria, SchH3, IPO3, FH2 & V rated. On Byron's Sires' side, he also has DDR police titled dogs. Inos Von Birkenhof, SchH3, PSH2 & V rated is his Grand Sire. (Click here for pedigree) NOTE: Byron's 'uncle' Bandit Von Donner Und Doria was imported by the Delaware State Police and served on the force until his honorable retirement.

Byron with Armin Winkler

Lord Byron is now in training for his Schutzhund titles. His trainer is Mr. Armin Winkler,from Germany, now residing in Virginia. He is a professional K-9 trainer, expert in training dogs in the various sporting disciplines as well as police and military tactics. Mr. Winkler's knowledge and experience with police lined dogs from the DDR led me to seek his help with training my first male, Lord Byron. Mr. Winkler also owns Riesenschnauzers, but trains any and all breeds suitable for sport and/or work. (See more photos on our Friends of Our Dogs page!).
